Fan Art: Megaman Zero - Zero

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

A two version upload! Here's my promised Megaman Zero fan art!

It's been awhile since I did a drawing with text in mind. Although I would've been fine only uploading the image with the text in it, I know many would prefer it without the text as well.

Zero has always been such a cool character since the Megaman X series, but I never thought he could get even cooler; or needed to be. That was until the Megaman Zero series. The new sleek design coupled with the story, set in the far future of the X series, gave the idea that this is Zero without his armour. It was such a cool idea then, and it's still cool now. How awesome would it be to see him again in a new Megaman game?!

Too bad it's highly unlikely right now. But since I never finished all 4 Megaman Zero games yet, I can at least do that. I made an attempt before, but I got stuck. It was way harder than I remembered it being, haha.

Fan Art: Megaman - Charge Shot

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

After deciding to focus more towards composition and atmosphere over detail and accuracy, I felt that a fan art would be a great opportunity to implement this change in mentality.

While talking with my cousin about what I'll draw next, as I finished my previous drawing, it hit me that a Megaman fan art would be the perfect next project. Not only would it serve as a great transition piece, but it will also let me continue my machine drawing practice.

It's kind of funny how, despite Megaman X being one of my favourite characters as a kid, I never thought of doing a Megaman fan art until now since starting this blog. It seems obvious thinking about it now, but I think the lack of a new Megaman game in recent years really hurt its mind share.

But with Megaman 11 being announced this year, there's no better time to do a Megaman fan art!

Artwork: Taking a Break

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

Finally drew something that has a mech in it!

I've always wanted to draw and design some sort of robot, or mechanical suit, but I've never really found the confidence and willingness. Most of my attempts stops half way because I always end up feeling overwhelmed by the details. But after seeing my recent improvements, I felt that it's about time I seriously tackled this challenge again.

What makes the details overwhelming for me when drawing robots is not the actual design of it, but rather its movements and functions. This is because each part of the robot has its own shape that is maintained throughout most of its movements. To make sure each part is recognizable in different poses and perspectives, I have to specifically figure out and study the parts I have trouble with separately from the overall design itself.

I think it turned out better than I expected overall, but when compared to my previous drawings, I feel like I could have improved more.

2018: Happy Chinese New Year! 新年快樂!

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

I wish you all a wonderful new year! That everything you do will go according to, if not exceed, your expectations. Most of all I wish you all great health and safety.

祝大家新年快樂! 心想成, 意, 身體健康, 安!

As usual the only way to celebrate the Lunar New Year is to make a drawing with the  zodiac of the year.

Being the year of the dog I decided to make a more realistic drawing than previous years, as it lends itself better to it. I've been meaning to draw something with an animal as well, so this was a great chance.

Hope you enjoyed the drawing, and once again Happy New Year!

For those interested in the main source I used for drawing the dog (shiba inu) in the drawing here is the link.

Artwork: Magazine Cover

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

This is essentially a proof of concept for a "fake magazine" idea I had for a while now. I couldn't flesh it out properly so nothing came out of it, yet. I can't say this really moves the idea any further along beyond just looking the part, but I'm happy that it does.

While working on it I was worried that the magazine aspect would look forced, but it turned out more believable than I expected.

To be honest, after finishing the drawing, I kind of wished I had drew something more stylish. It felt like a missed opportunity to really make this cover pop. Maybe next time.

Anyways I'll have the references for the clothing linked below. Hope you enjoyed this. Maybe you might have even mistaken it for an actual magazine cover, haha.

Fan Art: Fire Emblem Heroes - Brave Lyn

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

A fan art of the character Lyn from the "Fire Emblem" games. This drawing, specifically, is based on the "Choose Your Legend" edition of the character from the mobile game "Fire Emblem Heroes".

I was disappointed with the official illustration of this variant of Lyn, so I decided to draw my own version of it. Although because I took the chance to give her Askr designs as well, this became more of an Askr variant; Askr being the country the mobile game's story is set in.

Overall I'm happy with the results. But the time I spent deciding whether the drawing was complete or not made it feel less rewarding.
