Artwork: Magazine Cover

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

This is essentially a proof of concept for a "fake magazine" idea I had for a while now. I couldn't flesh it out properly so nothing came out of it, yet. I can't say this really moves the idea any further along beyond just looking the part, but I'm happy that it does.

While working on it I was worried that the magazine aspect would look forced, but it turned out more believable than I expected.

To be honest, after finishing the drawing, I kind of wished I had drew something more stylish. It felt like a missed opportunity to really make this cover pop. Maybe next time.

Anyways I'll have the references for the clothing linked below. Hope you enjoyed this. Maybe you might have even mistaken it for an actual magazine cover, haha.

Fan Art: Fire Emblem Heroes - Brave Lyn

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

A fan art of the character Lyn from the "Fire Emblem" games. This drawing, specifically, is based on the "Choose Your Legend" edition of the character from the mobile game "Fire Emblem Heroes".

I was disappointed with the official illustration of this variant of Lyn, so I decided to draw my own version of it. Although because I took the chance to give her Askr designs as well, this became more of an Askr variant; Askr being the country the mobile game's story is set in.

Overall I'm happy with the results. But the time I spent deciding whether the drawing was complete or not made it feel less rewarding.

Artwork: An Off "Day Off"

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

The first drawing I've done since my recent game development ventures. It was not only a great change of pace, but also a great way to bring in what I learned.

This all started as a rough sketch I did while taking a short break from something else. But I came to really like it, so I decided to just take it all the way.

Of course with the nature of a less planned drawing, there are mistakes, but I am personally really happy about how this turned out. Nothing too fancy, but there is a level of substance that is different from my older works. It's more grounded and relatable.

But there is one aspect of this drawing that I'd really want to improve upon next time. It's something that some of you might have noticed awhile ago in my drawings; and I may have even mentioned it. I've never been able to confirm the issue, but I think I've finally got it.

Character Illustrations: Death's Ambassador - Character Set 3

Drawn By: WrittenDusk
Game: Death's Ambassador
Concept and Development By: MRHAPPYFACEMAN

This is the last of the characters I am drawing for MRHAPPYFACEMAN. Naming this as a set is not very appropriate, but consistency is important.

There was at least one more character planned, but because there is something else I want to work on I ended my help early. MRHAPPYFACEMAN was very good about this.

If my participation in this project has interested you in their development, in any way, visit their Twitter for continued updates. For those who are interested in helping out with the development visit their recruitment page on RPG Maker Forum

This project really tested my skills as an artist in terms of design, technique, consistency, speed, and endurance. While as a person it helped me gain more experience with working with others. A truly valuable experience.

Character Illustrations: Death's Ambassador - Character Set 2

Drawn By: WrittenDusk
Game: Death's Ambassador (Previously Death's Advocate) (In Development)
Concept and Development By: MRHAPPYFACEMAN

A new post on more characters from "Death's Advocate", or rather "Death's Ambassador" now. Updates to the name will be mentioned as it changes through development.

The team is working hard at making this game, so if you are interested in their development and want to know more about the game visit their Twitter. For those who are interested in helping out with the development visit their recruitment page on RPG Maker Forum.

Among the three characters, the last two took the most effort; one of them especially took a lot of work. It's part of the reason why it took me so long to post this. But both these characters really made me understand the importance of an aspect of drawing/illustration that is easily ignored.

Character Illustrations: Death's Advocate - Daughters

Drawn By: WrittenDusk
Game: Death's Advocate (In Development)
Concept and Development By: MRHAPPYFACEMAN

I've been working on these illustrations for quite awhile now, wanting to post this up only after all four of them are finished.

These character illustrations are for a game, being developed in RPG Maker, called Death's Advocate. In this horror/thriller you will be thrown into unknown worlds as a proxy to assist Death in his fight against demons. The four characters that I have drawn are your daughters, and they will play significant roles within the game. All this is done in collaboration with, and for, MRHAPPYFACEMAN; a user of RPG Maker Forums. I'll have links to the RPG Maker website and their forums below.

I'll still be helping out with this game for the time being, so I'll give more updates as I post more illustrations and/or drawings of this game.

Fan Art: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild - Zelda

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

A fanart of Zelda from the recently released "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" for Wii U and the newly launched Nintendo Switch. Although it is a fanart of sorts it is much more a sketch of the official promotional art; which is intentional. I'll have the link to the artwork below.

This was mainly done to celebrate the release and launch of the much anticipated "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and Nintendo Switch; although I missed the March 3rd date (T-T). Aside from celebrating, this was also done in admiration to the design of this incarnation of Zelda.

I had fun doing this and quite a bit of nostalgia as well, because of all the sketching I did back in my school and art lesson days. What surprised me though was how I still have similar difficulties in sketching other peoples' art as I did in the past.

Artwork: An Outing

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

My most complete modern themed drawing to date. I used a few references to capture the extra levels of realism, which I'll have listed at the end of this post. To the left is the finished version, while to the right is the same, but without the depth blur added.

Let me know which one you prefer.

The inspiration for this drawing came from simply wanting to draw this type pose and my desire for a new pair of headphones. Haha. But as simple as this inspiration was, the things I discovered meant much more to me than it would normally.

2017: Happy Chinese New Year 新年快乐

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

I wish everyone a healthy, safe, successful, and smooth sailing year.

Though my wishes are modest this year, it's accompanied by a not so modest chicken. Haha.

Happy Year of the Chicken!

Gematsu Art Contest: Sword Art Online Fanart - Asuna

Drawn By: WrittenDusk

To get things out of the way...I didn't even get into the Top 10... (T-T).

Gematsu (gematsu.com) is a great website for gaming news that I visit daily and I highly recommend it. It was really great of them for hosting this art contest, and I'd like to thank them for this opportunity.

A humbling experience is the only way I can describe this. Despite improving a lot since my first contest with Gematsu (Artwork: Sora in Advent Children Costume), there was actually less feedback during the voting this time around.

There were multiple reasons for this which I had realized both before and during the contest.

(The second image should have been what I submitted instead.)
